Workshop Crane: stack the scrap without toppling it

An upright, one-tap stacking game in the Steel Flames junkyard: real balance physics, wind, the Tamer with grenades and one- or two-minute runs.

Game area

A rusty gantry crane in a junkyard at dusk lowers a tire on a chain onto a wobbly tower of scrap: an old car at the bottom, a wooden crate, a drum, a jerrycan, a tire, all leaning; Kiko, a young mechanic in an orange jumpsuit, arms up at the base; on the right the Tamer, in a hat and leather duster, about to throw a grenade. Orange sky against teal shadows.

About Workshop Crane

It is the Steel Flames junkyard seen head-on: a concrete pad, the gantry crane passing overhead and Kiko in the cab. The trolley runs back and forth along the beam and the piece hangs from the hook swinging like a pendulum; one tap drops it, and timing is everything. The base is always a car; then come crates, drums, jerrycans and tires, drawn so it never becomes impossible (after a narrow piece, the next one is wide). The physics is real balance: every piece has its own weight and shape, the tower leans, the tire rolls, the jerrycan tips over. Every 8 pieces a new round starts — the hook swings faster and wider, the wind comes in from round 2 — and every 3 rounds the Tamer climbs a dumpster beside the pad and throws grenades that rock the tower. Points per piece (more for dead-center drops and chains) plus the height in feet. Three lives: each piece that hits the ground takes one (a collapse counts as one); every completed round gives one back. One- or two-minute runs and that "one more" feeling.

One of Selminha's ideas

“Everyone has stacked something until it fell. I wanted that with the stuff from our junkyard — car, tire, drum — and a tower that really sways, not pretend. The Tamer with the grenade is there so nobody relaxes.”

How to play Workshop Crane

  1. One command: tap the screen (or click; on a keyboard J, K, Space or Enter; on a gamepad A or X) to drop the piece hanging from the hook. The dashed line shows where it should land, swing included.
  2. Drop when the line points at the middle of the top piece. Within 10 px of the center it is "DEAD CENTER!" with a bonus — chain them and the bonus grows.
  3. Every piece weighs and behaves differently: the car is a wide, heavy base; crate and drum are stable; the jerrycan is thin and tips; the tire rolls if it lands crooked. After a tire or a jerrycan on top, the next piece is always wide.
  4. Every 8 pieces Kiko welds the tower (sparks, TOWER WELDED!): what is stacked becomes a fixed base and can no longer fall. New round: the hook speeds up and swings wider; the wind (indicator on the side) pushes the hanging piece and the tower. Every 3 rounds the Tamer attacks with grenades — the GRENADE! warning and the blast shake the tower. Every piece you settle during his round is a hit (the boss bar drops); on the 8th he falls off the dumpster, defeated, and you get a 500 × round bonus.
  5. 3 lives: a piece on the ground takes one (pieces that collapse together count as one). Extra life with every completed round (4 at most). P or Esc pause; M toggles sound; F toggles full screen on a computer.

How the tower works

One tap
The hook runs along the beam and the piece swings; tapping drops it. The dashed line shows the landing point.
The pieces
Car (base, heavy and wide), crate, drum, jerrycan (thin) and tire (rolls). After a narrow piece the next one is wide: it never becomes impossible.
Rounds
Every 8 pieces the tower is welded (it becomes a fixed base) and the next round begins: faster, wider hook; wind from round 2; the Tamer with grenades every 3 rounds: every piece settled during his round is a hit; 8 hits and he falls off the dumpster (500 × round bonus).
Points
100 per piece × round; "DEAD CENTER!" (within 10 px of the center) adds 50 × round × chain. The height in feet shows on the side.
Lives
Three. A piece on the ground takes one; a collapse counts as one; every completed round adds one (maximum 4).

The tower is a rigid-body simulation: weight, friction, leaning and tipping are real, not animation.
